PairIt — Privacy Policy

Overview

PairIt is a voice-driven spaced-repetition flashcard app, currently in closed beta on Apple TestFlight. This policy describes what data PairIt collects, when, and how it is used.

What PairIt collects by default

• Authentication identity. When you sign in with Google, PairIt receives your Google account email, name, and profile photo URL. This is held only in memory for the duration of your session and used to display your name in the UI and to authorize access to your own Google Sheets and Google Drive. This information is not sent to any server controlled by the developer.
• Your flashcard data. Your decks and answers live in your own Google Drive, inside a folder named "PairIt" that the app creates on your behalf. PairIt reads and writes these sheets to power your reviews. The developer has no access to your Google Drive or to the contents of your sheets.
• Crash and diagnostic data via Apple TestFlight. Apple may report aggregate crash and performance information to the developer per Apple's standard TestFlight terms. This is governed by Apple's privacy policy, not this one.

That is everything PairIt collects by default. No analytics, no telemetry, no advertising trackers, no third-party SDKs that phone home.

Optional: Beta data sharing

If — and only if — you turn on "Help improve PairIt — share practice data with the developer" in the Settings drawer, PairIt will additionally send the following information to a server controlled by the developer (Rodj Martin):

• Your identity. Your Google account name and email address, so that the developer knows whose data it is and can reach out to you with follow-up questions.
• Each flashcard interaction, including:
  • The deck name and the prompt and expected answer that were shown.
  • Your spoken or typed response.
  • Whether PairIt scored it as correct or incorrect, and what the fuzzy-match score was.
  • How long you took to answer.
  • The date and time of the interaction.
  • The build of the app you were using.
• Session-level metadata. Start time, end time, total cards reviewed, voice commands issued.
• Device context. Device type (e.g. iPhone model, web browser), OS version, and whether you are using the native app or the web app.

This data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored in a database on a server controlled solely by Rodj Martin. It is not shared with any third party. It is not used for advertising. Only Rodj Martin has access to it.

This setting is OFF by default. Developer-designated internal testers may have this setting enabled by default as part of their testing agreement. You can turn it on or off at any time from the Settings drawer. Turning it off stops all future data sharing immediately; it does not by itself delete previously collected data (see "Your rights" below).

On-device storage

Independent of the beta data-sharing setting, PairIt stores your per-card practice history (counts, response times, dates) locally on your device so that the app can show you statistics about your own progress. This local data:

• Never leaves your device unless you opt in to beta data sharing.
• Is deleted automatically when you uninstall the app.
• Is included in your device's iCloud backup if you have device backups enabled (governed by Apple, not by PairIt).

How long is shared data kept?

Beta-shared data is retained for the duration of the PairIt TestFlight beta. When PairIt exits beta and is released on the App Store, one of the following will happen and will be communicated in advance:

• All identified beta data will be deleted entirely, or
• All identified beta data will be converted to anonymous form (with names and email addresses permanently stripped) and retained only as anonymized statistics for the developer's reference.

Continued ongoing collection past beta will not occur unless this policy is updated and re-disclosed in the app.

Your rights

At any time, you may:

• Stop sharing. Turn off the data-sharing toggle in the Settings drawer. Future sessions will no longer send data.
• Request deletion. Email support@pairit.cards from the email address associated with your account and ask for your data to be deleted. The developer will confirm deletion within a reasonable timeframe.
• Revoke Google access. Stop using PairIt and revoke its access to your Google account at any time from your Google account permissions page.

Children

PairIt is not directed at children under 13 and the developer does not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has shared data with PairIt, please email support@pairit.cards and the data will be deleted.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at the same URL and the effective date at the top will be updated. Material changes will be communicated to beta testers via TestFlight release notes or direct email.
